Hello, my name is Emma and I am a French native who is very much in love with living in the Cotswolds.
If somebody had told my 15 year old self that I would one day blog about the Cotswolds, I would have laughed in their face. First of all because I would have thought blog was a rude word, secondly because at that age, Paris was the only place that mattered and finally because my English did not extend much beyond “how do you do?”.
Fast forward 20 years or so and I have been living in Oxfordshire for a long time working as a French tutor, my English has improved, the Internet was invented and I happen to find the countryside very appealing. As we say in French: “Il n’y a que les imbéciles qui ne changent pas d’avis” (only idiots don’t change their minds)!
I would like to share my passion for the Cotswolds through this blog and hope to give you ideas for trails to walk, spots to visit and places to eat if you are in search of a Cotswolds experience.
I apologise for the mistakes I will make while writing this blog but will try my best to do justice to the beautiful English language.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Hi Emma,
Thanks for the like at naturestimeline, I hope you will pop by again some time.
Best Wishes
Tony Powell

Likewise, very enjoyable read on CotswoldViews.
I live just north of the Cotswolds. Having found your blog I will be a regular visitor!
Thank you for the follow. I really like the pictures on your blog too.
Thank you. There are some Cotswold photos on my blog – use the Search facility 🙂
En France, nous lisons votre blog qui nous donne envie de visiter cette belle région! Merci!
On dit que la France est le plus beau pays du monde …Mouais, c’est peut être vrai, mais cette région du Royaume Uni est superbe. Ce blog est magnifique !
Hi Emma, what a beautiful blog you have. One day I hope to visit the Cotswolds.Thank you for the like!
Hope you will enjoy them as much as me when you come!
Hi Emma
Thanks for following and ‘liking’ my blog. I’m so pleased that you did as it means I have now discovered yours and can reciprocate. The Cotswolds is a very special place, isn’t it?
I really love the Cotswolds and am pleased there are so many things to do there. I will be following your blog for inspiration.
Emma, the Cotswolds are one of my favorite spots in the world! I am an English speaker who daily practices an hour of French! In the next month or so I will be traveling again to the UK, this time to see the lovely gardens and homes in Kent and Sussex. I will be living three weeks in an old converted barn! I hope it is as lovely experience as I had in the Cotswolds! Hope to hear from you again and I am now “following” your events! They’re lovely!
Hello, thanks for the follow. I hope you enjoy Sussex, I’m sure there are many beautiful spots there too. Good luck with your French too, it’s a tricky language to learn!
Hello and thank you so much for following my blog … I always say at this point that I do hope I won’t let you down! I have returned the compliment because from the little I have seen already, I will really enjoy sharing your journey not least because we have sort of swapped lives! I’m not surprised you love where you live … it is thoroughly beautiful. So – away we go … you writing about the most English England and me about being in the Frenchest France! Happy days 🙂
I have been once in Cantal and enjoyed it. Like the Cotswolds, it is very picturesque, fresh and green (ok, rainy…). I am not sure many English people live there so you made a brave choice. I hope the French treat you well!
The people here see me as a curiosity for sure but are incredibly sweet natured in the main and very kind. Of course few speak any English so I have had to learn to make myself understood …. slowly!
Thanks for the visit and I’m glad you enjoyed my Thames path walk now we are in your home territory.. More to follow as we finish our missing sections through Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. And I love your take on the Engish countryside.
Just discovered your lovely blog after you kindly followed mine. I am greatly looking forward to reading your posts about this beautiful area. Best wishes! TJ 🙂
And me yours as I am originally from Paris and your photos make me want to discover it all over again.
I am delighted that the photos have that effect. It is truly a fascinating city. I hope to be back there late next year to explore a lot more. Best wishes! 🙂
Hi Emma, what a lovely blog. I enjoyed looking at the different villages and their unique characters. It makes me a bit homesick for Europe. Thanks for your string of “likes” on Beauty Along the Road.
Great blog!!!!!!
Thank you so much!
Like you I am not native to this land. I have found myself on the border of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and have found this to be one of the most interesting areas in Britain. I hope I have captured that excitement in my blogs just as you have fallen in love with the Cotswold. So I return to Australia but with a bit of my heart in the midlands and another bit with my cousin in Dampierre sur Bouton. Yes France. My French son in law approves.
I love traveling but it is amazing how many things to see and do are on our doorstep. You have a lovely blog.
I just love the area of Cotswolds. When I lived in London three years ago, I went to various and different places in the area. The scenery is just absolutely stunning!
Hi Emma, thanks so much for the likes and follow on my travel blog. I’ve only been to the Cotswolds once so I am really going to enjoy following the posts in your blog.
Thank you for finding my travel blog. I’ve enjoyed reciprocating the visit. Like the commenter above I’ve only visited the Cotswolds once but would like to visit more.
Hello Emma,
I really enjoyed your blog. The photographs of Blenheim were especially magical. It is lovely to come across someone who shares the same passion for the Cotswolds that I do.
Dare I suggest that you might enjoy my book COTSWOLDS MEMOIR:Discovering a Beautiful Region of Britain on a Quest to Bay a 17th Century Cottage. It is in Paperback, Kindle (where the photos are in colour) and AudioBook (I am an actress in addition to being a writer and I perform all the voices myself)
The book has done so well that I am about to publish the next book in the series MORE COTSWOLDS MEMOIRS:Creating the Perfect Cottage and Discovering Downton Abbey in the Cotswolds.
Writing and researching these books brought me so much joy and I love to hear from my readers so do contact me on my blog if you read my book and would like to – which is on my web site http://www.DizWhite.com
Well done on a very interesting and beautiful blog.

Thanks Diz. I’ll have a look. I am not really into property stuff as I know full well I am never going to be able to afford anything in the Cotswolds but I’ll have a look at your Haunted Cotswolds. Thanks for getting in touch.
Hi Emma, Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and liking my post on the Cotswolds. From a Cotswolds expert like you, it is truly well appreciated! 🙂 I am currently living in Tuscany so if you need any tips on this region…let me know or have a look at my other posts! Every region is unique but some things down here remind me a lot of the wonderful Cotswolds 🙂 All the best!
Lovely blog, I live in the Cotswolds and love it. Not that I’ve managed to get to as many places in it as you 🙂
Thanks. Yours is lovely too with lots of destinations I’d love to explore. And you do it with kids, hat off!
Thank you, though mine is definitely a work in progress!
